Home can be a tiresome entity if you let it. It's easy to focus on the imperfections and become overwhelmed by the thought of what you still need to make it complete. However, when I take them time to think it through I notice it's the simple and imperfect things in my own home that make me the happiest...
favorite notes and sentiments
terracotta and fresh flowers
family treasures in Saf's room
collections of scents and old books
handmade pillows
maps and painted doors
art supplies
tarnished silver heirlooms filled with seasonal things
natural textures and contrasts
old shiny things
Beautiful photos!!!

I so agree with this. I love those little signs of 'soul' in a home. Detail and traces of true personality and life. Like a decorative finger print by the owner of the home.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures Leah.

Incredible photos, Leah. The silver tea set looks otherwordly.
ReplyDeleteAnd what is it about tarnished silver that's so beautiful. My mom came recently and nearly had a heart attack when she spied my tarnished silver Revere bowl. I wouldn't let her touch it.
You have a million pretty spots in your house.

Funny that you should even mention not being satisfied with parts of your home because any photo I've seen looks like perfection to me. Lovely, lovely images.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say I love the blog! Thanks for thinking of ways to help us make our own homes more of a haven.

So true...it's the items attached to memories that have so much meaning to me. Who I was with when I got this or that. What my parents and family have handed down to me. It's all treasured for me. Love the little reminders of love around your home...so beautiful! xx Danielle
ReplyDeleteI love these little glimpses of your house - the little details that truly make it a home, no? And your photographs, as always, are simply gorgeous. You capture the light in a way that few people can. Beautiful, Leah. It's nice to visit here, even if only virtually. So glad to see you and yours so happy.
ReplyDeleteI'm off to check out the Nate Berkus link and your sister's blog.

I tend to be overwhelmed a lot, so your post was the dose I needed to bring things back into perspective. I love your details - the family treasures, natural textures, and maps are always so romantic to me. All lovely.
