casual parisian perfection

from any angle and behind any lens...

Vanessa Bruno's Paris apartment is a total treat whenever it appears in another magazine or makes its way onto another blog.  It's light and feminine and a touch refined but not even the least bit too serious.

Evolving Bench (behind the scenes edition)

The other day I did a post for Apartment Therapy on evolving furniture-- pieces that grow and change with you as your tastes and style of your home evolve. But what I didn't show is how this little bench got it's latest facelift...
I was all set to say good bye to this (never looked quite right in our house)

But then I spotted this (which I'm a bit in love with at the moment) and decided to give it another try with some new skin. I had a piece of the fabric left over from pillows that I made, and it was the perfect size for the bench.

Thankfully, just in time, Snow White showed up with her dwarfs

And helped me turn it into this

It made me thankful for old pieces that aren't too precious that can be changed on a whim with the help of little hands that aren't all too concerned with perfection. Instead of nailhead trim I used black carpet tacks. I love how simple they look.
