Summer

is almost over, and MG's expression just about sums up our feelings on the matter.

Because summer slipped away too quickly--and without a single post--I'm going to have to rewind for you through a summer review series. Let's pretend it's May....
This picture makes me laugh because just beyond the fence is a giant mud pit, but from here it looks rather idyllic. We had an insane amount of rain this spring and early summer which reeked havoc on our already muddy, weedy yard, but when the rain finally let up we enjoyed a glorious summer. There were only maybe a total of 5 unbearably humid days the whole season--so rare in DC!

We spent many non-rainy days at the gardens where all the plants were HUGE and lush.

And for daddy's birthday we got together with some lovely Notre Dame friends...
and then for Mother's day, we visited one of my favorite places in the world, Washington Grove, a small historic town outside of DC where I spent my early childhood years. The whole neighborhood is like a time machine. The houses are old and quirky, people have the most beautiful gardens, and there is something magically simple and unaffected about the whole place...
The girls were especially happy to have their auntie and uncles to help them enjoy the day...

One month down! Stay tuned for June...
